This self build project in Buckinghamshire had been specified in a blue smooth brick that architecturally complimented the contemporary design and the other facade materials used. 

In reality blue smooth bricks rarely work out very well due to their common irregularities, uneven colours, cleaning issues, and natural occurring issues such as 'peacocking' and extreme staining. 

​In addition, the black mortar specified on this project had completely lost all to its colour pigment within 6 months of the build and turned to a lighter colour finish.

​We created a bespoke Matt Black Colour Tint that was applied as one application to both the brick and mortar to the homeowners specification in order to create the contemporary finish that was their original intention.

Tinting is always preferable to masonry paint as it not only maintains the technical specification of the brick allowing it to 'breath' as it should do, it is also more natural looking and is maintenance free for the life of the brickwork.
